This scan is done to assess the blood flow through the Carotid arteries in the neck which supply the brain. The Vertebral arteries are also examined. Ultrasound Abdomen

Abdominal Ultrasounds are the most common scan we perform. The main organs visualised with this type of ultrasound are the liver, gallbladder, biliary ducts, pancreas, kidneys, spleen and abdominal aorta.

Common indications for having an abdominal ultrasound include: vomiting, gallstones, liver cirrhosis, jaundice, cysts, abdominal pain and/or bloating.

For this study you will be required to fast prior to the scan for 8 hours. You may take all medications as prescribed. The examination should take no longer than 30 minutes. The radiographer will produce the necessary images which will be reviewed and reported on by a Consultant Radiologist.

Please inform us if you are diabetic and we will schedule you for an early morning appointment.
